What’s your “typical” day look like?
A typical weekday without any children’s activities begins at 6:00 am. 6:00 wake up and start to wake up the house. Make breakfast and begin my school drop offs by 7:30 am. 8:00 am arrive at the office and check e-mail for any daily changes to my schedule. 9:00 am, 11:30 am, 1:00 pm appointments with clients. 2:00 pm I begin my journey to my daughter’s school to pick her up from school. 3:15 pm I drive back to the office and check e-mail and follow up with my appointments from the day. 5:30 pm I begin to end my day at work and drive home to begin my evening at home. 6:15 pm – 8:30 pm I am working with each child on homework and begin cooking for the family. 8:30 pm get the kids cleaned up, prepared for the next day, and in bed by 9:30 pm. 9:30 pm I begin to check e-mail or work on PTA commitments. 10:30 pm I allow myself to wind down and spend some quality time with my significant other. My weekends are much more relaxed and family oriented – thank goodness!!!
What are your favorite things to do with your family?
We enjoy game night together. We are able to be silly and fun with each other.
Do you have any favorite products that help make your life as a Mom easier (please don’t include your blackberry, your computer, your cell phone…those are givens!! )?
Stickie notes & paper box in my trunk.
What is the last thing you told your children that your own mother told you when you were a kid?
You are all going to work together and like it.
What was the best piece of parenting advice you got? Who gave it to you?
My friend (long-time PTA buddy Jennifer Nail) who has teenagers has told me to look through their rooms every so often, but do not tell them what you find. If they know you have found something, they will be better about hiding it next time. This is the best way to know what questions you should be asking them or subjects to be discussing one on one.
If an expectant mother asked you “what it’s like to be a Mom”, what would you tell her?
Exhausting yet exciting at the same time.
